Will the 'universal vaccine' against corona virus be available for Rs 150?
Virginia:
US experts have had more success in developing a "universal corona virus vaccine" that is effective against all types of corona virus.
If the vaccine is finally proven to be effective, it will be available for less than Rs 150, which will be of great benefit, especially to poor countries.
The vaccine performed well during animal experiments, protecting them from two different types of corona viruses at the same time.
It should be noted that the "corona virus" is not a single virus but a whole family of viruses, including about a dozen and a half viruses that are distinguished under a microscope due to their distinctive "crown-like" structure and a few other common features.
However, only seven types of corona viruses infect humans, including the current "SARS Cove 2" and the majority of them cause colds, flu and other respiratory complaints / diseases.
The latest issue of the online research journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) published a research paper by Steven Zackner, a senior researcher at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and his colleagues. Where low cost and 'Universal Corona Vaccine' experiments are highlighted in detail.
In experiments on pigs, the vaccine completely protected them from the attacks of Covid 19 and PEDV corona viruses.
In light of this success, this team of experts wants to launch human experiments, which will require official approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In order to develop a "herpes zoster" vaccine against the corona virus, E. coli germs were genetically modified to remove the spread of the disease, while corona virus "spike proteins" were found on their surface. The targets were also increased.
Explain that corona viruses have spike proteins on the surface, such as tiny bumps, that help them attach to and penetrate a cell.
Our immune system responds by recognizing the same spike protein that helps us fight off the virus. However, the most important thing about spike protein is that it is still the same in all types of corona viruses, which have not changed over time.
Genetically modified E. coli bacteria are killed (dead) and injected into the body where the natural immune system, based on the spike protein, recognizes them as corona viruses and immediately initiates immune action.
In this way, it also protects the body from future attacks by the original corona virus.
The biggest advantage of using microbes in vaccine
development is that once the bacterium develops the desired vaccine properties,
it can be mass-produced at very low cost.
Interestingly, all the equipment needed to produce large quantities of vaccines containing germs is the same as that used in ordinary and small breweries. (In fact, the method of making this vaccine on a large scale is exactly the same as making alcohol.)
In addition, the vaccine can be stored at normal
refrigerator temperatures and will not require any special, unusual or
expensive arrangements.
The latest developments in the Universal Corona Virus Vaccine, while promising, are still a long way off.
